Caesar Spencer Unveils Debut Album ‘Get Out Into Yourself,’ Fusing British and French Pop
Caesar Spencer has released his highly anticipated debut album, ‘Get Out Into Yourself,’ today (28 April) via New Radio Records. The album, a quest for identity, seamlessly merges British and French pop and is available on all streaming services. Physical editions of the album can be ordered on CD or vinyl and come with a limited edition conceptual storyboard illustrated by French artist Thierry Beaudenon.
Spencer also announced a new AA-side single, “Hail Caesar” // “Broken By The Song,” set to be released on 26 May. The two tracks highlight the contrasting aspects of the album. “Hail Caesar,” the opening track, is an electrifying tune featuring punk icon Gilles Tandy (Les Olivensteins) and Jean Felzine (Mustang) that takes inspiration from Dick Dale’s “Misirlou.” In contrast, “Broken By The Song” is a more introspective and uplifting anthem, celebrating Caesar’s love for music and its healing powers.
The new AA-side single follows previously released tracks “Waiting For Sorrow,” “Isn’t That What Jimi Said,” “Get Out Into The Pigs,” and the Serge Gainsbourg-inspired duet “When I Whisper In Your Ear.” All of these songs can be found on Spencer’s debut album, which tells the story of a protagonist on a journey to find their place in an ever-shifting world, echoing Caesar’s own nomadic experiences.
Born in Peru, with Swedish roots, and now residing in France, Caesar Spencer’s album is a tribute to the musical heritage of his newfound home. Recorded at Studio La Fugitive with esteemed producer Gaétan Boudy and featuring a talented backing band, the album also includes collaborations with numerous special guests such as Jacqueline Taïeb, Mareva Galanter, Aurélie Ligerot, Jo Wedin, and orchestration from FAME’S PROJECT.
With influences ranging from David Bowie to Serge Gainsbourg, Caesar Spencer’s ‘Get Out Into Yourself’ is a love letter to French music and an exploration of identity through various cultural landscapes.
The “Hail Caesar”/ “Broken By The Song” AA-side single, follows previous releases “Waiting For Sorrow”, “Isn’t That What Jimi Said”, “Get Out Into The Pigs”, and the sensational Serge Gainsbourg-inspired duet “When I Whisper In Your Ear”; all of which appear on Caesar Spencer’s magnificent debut solo album: ‘Get Out Into Yourself’ – out now.
