Holly Henderson Unveils Enchanting New Single “Headfull Of Soil” from Acclaimed Album “The Walls”

by | Apr 28, 2023

London-based Holly Henderson has released her latest single, “Headfull Of Soil,” from her critically acclaimed sophomore album “The Walls.” The track, described as an infectious vintage-sounding gem, captivates listeners with its hazy dream-like atmosphere, quirky harpsichord breakdowns, and soaring harmonies. Blending ethereal folk with psychedelic explorations, “Headfull Of Soil” offers a breezy, ear-tingling experience that will leave listeners wanting more.

Henderson explains the inspiration behind the song, saying, “I wrote ‘Head Full Of Soil’ about the way we convince ourselves that everything is fine when it is, in fact, fantasy. The more we pack in the soil, the deeper we bury the delusions. As the song progresses, a flower never blooms – but it may, at the right time.”

Featuring layers of vocals, harpsichord, guitars, bass, and percussion, “Headfull Of Soil” exudes a wild garden feel with Sunshine Pop sensibilities. The tight weave of the arrangement is tamed only by the synths washing over the track like rain, revealing unpredictable paths as the song descends into a river of colour.

Henderson’s debut album, “Monday Green,” showcased her rock guitar skills and alternative pop anthem talent. However, “The Walls” demonstrates a more introspective and delicate side to her songwriting. Recorded in a farmhouse in the English countryside, the album contrasts her previous Los Angeles-recorded work. Through finely crafted arrangements, sonic musings, and playful themes, Henderson deconstructs her Brit Pop and classic influences, reassembling them into progressive-folk wonderment.

“Headfull Of Soil” was released on 28th April via London-based Ivy RecRods.
