Cork’s The Love Buzz Return With New Single ‘Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)’

by | Apr 17, 2026

Cork-based scuzz-pop outfit The Love Buzz share the new single ‘Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)’ off their upcoming album ‘Earworms’ due for release this Autumn.

Building a reputation for their high energy live sets and hypnotic melodies, The Love Buzz are a tongue in cheek beacon of hope blending energetic indie sleaze with fuzzy pop sensibilities.

The new single ‘Freeloaded (Cool Kitten)’ is a perfect reflection of this, pulling together 90s alt-rock aesthetics with undertones of 70s power-pop whilst leaning heavily into 00s garage-rock revival, drawing comparisons to the likes of Weezer & Supergrass. Produced alongside Chris Somers & Tom Rees (Bug Club, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard), the track opens a lulling mid tempo as the guitar line bops under the sharp lead vocals before exploding into a wall of crunching fuzz, a buzzing lead synth line and a boxy detuned vocals, knitting together as the band say “like a middle child hatching a plan”. As the track reaches the chorus, the radiant melodies come together to capture an anthemic quality, bringing both a nostalgic twinge and an urgent flair.

Talking about the track, the band explains: “We put together this song off the back of a random riff, kieran played it in a search for a new song, it came together within 30 minutes, keeping all the first lyrics, frills and low vocals. It was recorded with a broken Fuzz War pedal and a micro Korg with only black keys. The lyrics are about living on the dole and weekends that go on for months.”

The Love Buzz have already been earmarked as one to watch following UK tours with NewDad and The Darkness, tour dates in Europe and India and festival appearances at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, YNot, Liverpool Sound City and Tramlines. More recently, the band have picked up Epiphone sponsorship and been chosen by John Kennedy to appear at Truck Festival 2026. With a whole host of tastemaker support from the likes of Radio X, BBC Radio 6 Music, Hot Press, Nialler 9, Golden Plec, DIY, Clash, Earmilk and RTE, to name just a few, the band have built a feverish fanbase that continues to grow with each release.
