Andreas Moe – All Our Worries Are Poems – PT 1 EP
I was first made aware of Andreas Moe when he opened for American singer-songwriter and musician John Mayer at The O2 Arena in London a couple of years ago. I remember him being well-received by the crowd as he performed accompanied by a live band.
In 2021, Moe has released a brand new four-track EP entitled ‘All Our Worries Are Poems – PT 1’ and in his words “I’ve always felt proud and connected to the music I put out because each song has its own journey and story…”
Opener ‘Rise & Fall’ includes a textured acoustic guitar riff that sounds very similar to the track ‘Jack & Diane’ at times. The radio-friendly voice might appeal to Mayer fans especially for those that like the ‘In Continum’ era.
‘Hey Lulu’ puts you in the mind of summer with the upbeat percussive backing that puts a spring in your step. The vibe reminds this scribe of Vance Joy’s ‘Riptide’ and early Jack Johnson. Slick sunshine pop for the masses.
Acoustic guitar-driven ‘Holding On’ hears Andreas Moe in fine voice surrounded by a James Bay-Esque build-up that will be a strong addition in future live sets.
Closing track ‘Wholeheartedly’ allows Moe to put his worries to one side with a grand vocal and rhythmic Americana guitar.
To summarise, ‘All Our Worries Are Poems – PT 1’ is a well-thought-out release that is targeted at fans of modern acoustic pop and there is no denying Andreas Moe is a talented individual (having been platinum-certified five times) but it is not musically risky or unexpected. However, given that he has opted to include ‘Part One’ in the EP title I really look forward to hearing some more material in the coming months to hear what else Andreas Moe can do.
