Mick Jagger With Dave Grohl – Easy Sleazy (Single)

As some of the Coronavirus restrictions are lifted in the UK to allow people to visit non-essential shops such as record stores as well as pre-book to get a pint in a pub, it was a pleasant surprise to see that Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has joined forces with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl for a brand new song called ‘Easy Sleazy’ (which would look great on some clothing apparel in my humble opinion). 

The track was written by Jagger during the pandemic and features him on lead vocals and guitar. Meanwhile, multi-talented Grohl provides drums, guitar and bass for the number. A punchy drum intro sets the tone as Mick Jagger proclaims “We took it on the chin, the numbers were so grim!” alongside the driven bass riff.

Lyrically, ‘Easy Sleazy’ does occasionally put a smile on my face when I hear “Virtual premieres, I’ve got nothing left to wear” as so many events have been replaced with screens and software such as Zoom. The references come thick and fast with everything from over-eating, learning to cook, excessive TV watching as well as the vaccine itself – “Shooting the vaccine, Bill Gates is in my bloodstream” is pure genius.

In conclusion, this duet from these two rock stars seems really overdue but the timing of the release could not have been better as it combines the turbulence of the past year with a sense of optimism from when we can start interacting with people and experience events such as live music and sporting events such as football. A stone-cold rock classic that is full of humour and emotion that will connect with the public on a global scale.
