Well, you might wonder – how on Earth will English guitar man and satirist Pete get on with the clean-living Osmonds?? But a session was agreed as the Utah legends and their rock band prepared for a show at Guildford’s G Live venue. Pete leads with a confession, as he meets Merrill and Jay backstage…

With a new album coming out on Mascot and titled Shades it seems a good time to catch up again with the artist as he flies in from sunny California to overcast Shoreditch for press sessions. Pete and fellow guitarist Colin Howell grab a beverage and join Doyle at his hotel this morning to talk about the new record:

Read MoreGreen On Bluesfest 2018
We had been fishing for a while for a quick chat with BluesFest director and musician Leo Green and as the 2018 event approached, it has happened. If we centered on the Eternal ‘act choices – what IS Blues?’ aspects this piece would never end, so we concentrate largely on the nuts and bolts of the festival
Read MoreBen Poole – Anytime You Need Me
Poole returns with a new studio album, almost entirely own material therein and production by drum ace Wayne Proctor. I think I have known Proctor some twenty years now and his forte is capturing a crisp but rich sound for many artists, in the studio. He listens to the songs and creates an enhancement for each composition, working much in the manner of a tailor fashioning a garment from cloth.

A phoenix-style return to love for 2018 – and beyond – found us Cornbury fans trekking back to the middle of nowhere (aka the Tews) for more music and entertainment . And some winceworthy ‘comedy’..It’s quite Ok driving around this area in the day and we found the signposting somewhat better this year. At night, driving around is hideous, for a stranger to the area. Whatever the expenditure on facilities in this neck of the woods, it sure ain’t going on lighting!

Intrigued by the work by Ball and his trio on the Mutual Appreciation Society release, we asked Sterling to enlarge upon the album content and array of guests by way of a set of customised questions. Enjoy this veteran’s responses and thoughts in this piece, which is free of Ball puns and references, you may be pleased to learn….
Read MoreImagination feat. Leee John – Retropia
We have much time for Leee John. He makes great records, can readily turn his hand to jazz and we have never seen him give a bad performance, rather he has given some of the best we have seen, singing like an angel and giving his muscular band room to explore the funk. Here we have a set of twelve new songs plus some extra’s. And very welcome, too.
Read MoreThe Isley Brothers & Santana – Power Of Peace
A few copies of this release should be dropped over North Korea, I think..and then over Washington. Both these Sony acts have long promoted peace, love and understanding and their linking up to create and combine is a laudable notion.
Read MoreBecca Stevens – Regina
‘Regina’…Latin for ‘queen’. One listen to this collection confirms that indeed Stevens is queen of what she is creating. Her involvement with David Crosby and his recent music attracted my attention. Crosby is free with his praise of her songs and singing. He knows a bit about both. Female voices are much in evidence on TV and radio at present, but not this kind of voice…..
